Ossining Waterfront Covid Wedding – Carol and Clifford:

August 22, 2020

We shoot many weddings, but this was one for the ages. And we don’t mean the couple’s literal ages. Fifty years after Carol’s freshman enrollment at NJ’s Ramapo College and nine years after Clifford’s Professor retirement there, they graduated to husband and wife on the banks of the Hudson in Ossining’s Engel Waterfront park. The decades in between saw long marriages, widowhood, advanced degrees and illustrious careers. But last year, it was an ordinary college anniversary alumni survey that united them, with program committee member Cliff, now 79, stunned at her responses’ and accomplishments. He called Carol, now 78, invited her to visit the campus with him and meet the anniversary program committee, and the result found us a year later celebrating their marriage, as did The Patch; CBS, TV’s “Talk of the Table,” where Gayle King enthused that their story gave her hope; and The NY Times, which gave a guitar-strumming Tim a photographic cameo!

Blue Hill at Stone Barns Proposal

June 30, 2018

Melissa and Matt

A man walked into a bar…

Westchester’s refined Blue Hill at Stone Barns is about as far as you can get from a bar at the Jersey Shore; but Melissa and Matt made the journey! That bar is where they met six years ago, and Stone Barns is where he proposed in May. We conjured a plan with Matt for the staff to magically appear from the root cellar with a champagne toast, and the magic continued with dinner at Blue Hill.  Good thing he waited outside for her to walk out of that Jersey bar–soon he’ll wait as she walks down the aisle.

Chloefaith and Daren  – Share the Wealth –

We’ve seen our share of rituals during wedding shoots, but this was a new one: the Money Dance. An old ethnic custom, guests pay to dance with the bride and groom, and this couple’s generous guests showered them with bills. Not a typical accessory on a strapless ball gown, but there wasn’t much that was typical here. Talk about globalization: Chloefaith is Filipino, Daren African-American, and their reception was at an Indian restaurant. They met at church when Daren joined the choir, and their harmony still soars loud and true.

Sleepy Hollow, New York Nuptials

Karen and Matthew – No place like home –

We feel emotion at all the weddings we shoot, but this one was personal. The lovely bride was our daughter’s high school classmate, and her dad, our son’s soccer coach. And the venue was essentially in our backyard: our hometown of Sleepy Hollow. Karen and Matthew returned here from their home in Virginia to say their vows in her childhood Church of the Magdalene. Okay, so there was rain– it didn’t stand a chance against the sunshine in our hearts.

Harvest on Hudson Wedding

January 19, 2018

Stephanie and Joe – Cafeteria Crush:

Most courtships unfold in restaurants or movie theaters, not a school cafeteria, but Joe was up for the challenge. Stephanie was a nutritionist there, and he’d take breaks from his social studies classroom to flirt with her. It took many visits, then 10 “friendship” dates, but she finally acknowledged a romance. The rest of the school did too after the principal spotted them at a restaurant! There was nothing secretive about their August wedding, with plenty of co-workers celebrating at Hasting’s riverside Harvest on Hudson. We give their story a definite A plus.

Tarrytown House Wedding Celebration

November 30, 2016

Laura and Daniel – Long-term forecast: SUN

Most couples face obstacles, but weather usually isn’t one of them. Darkening skies threatened Dan’s beach proposal, and stormy ones threatened their wedding, but inside elegant Tarrytown House last October, all was sunshine. Laura beamed in strapless lace, bridesmaids shone in scarlet, and nieces and nephews formed a vivid parade. Watching the couple’s first dance to John Legend’s “All of Me,” we forecast only blue skies ahead.

A Grand Finale

August 6, 2016

Judit and Jeff:

We love a happy ending, and that’s what we got shooting Judit and Jeff’s Pocantico wedding. The first act was their save-the-date shoot, and now, the finale at the Chagall-bedecked Union Church. We couldn’t write a better script: their storyline includes an alcohol-fueled bar mishap, an apology, and months of long-distance dating. The climactic episode at Tarrytown’s DoubleTree Hotel starred the bride, stunning in a lacy mermaid gown, swaying with her groom to Rod Stewart’s “Have I Told You That I Love You.” Kleenex, please!

Hollow Brook Golf Club Wedding

July 31, 2016

Winnie and Billy  –  Who’s Counting?

They say the third time’s a charm, but so were Winnie and Billy’s first two weddings—to each other! We shot their second- a civil ceremony in Briarcliff, but missed their first in Hong Kong, Winnie’s hometown. They courted long distance after Winnie returned there after they met in Boston, but this time around, her family returned the favor to attend the celebration at Cortlandt’s Hollow Brook Golf Club. Winnie’s white lace cap-sleeved gown was pure American, but later, she was just as stunning in traditional Chinese red, the color of luck. Surrounded by family and friends, we can attest that this couple has had plenty.

Katonah, NY – Surprise Wedding

June 25, 2016

Angela and Kevin   –  Babies and Brides:

Surprise parties are usually for the guest of honor – this one was for the guests! It was tough, but we kept the secret that the first birthday celebration for Angela and Kevin’s son would also include their wedding. They figured why not, since friends and family from far and wide would be attending. With balloons and kids’ goody bags as decoration, the couple exchanged vows in their Katonah backyard, their faces beaming with joy and their guests’ with awe. We’ve shot a lot of weddings, but this was our first where sippy cups rivaled champagne flutes!

Trinidad & David – Coffee stirs things up

When David first posed the question “coffee, tea or me?” on a coffee line, Trinidad chose coffee. When he tried again two weeks later, she succumbed. On their first date, a stroll at Westchester’s Kensico Dam, they bonded over more than lattes. That coffee line was at Morgan Stanley, where they both worked, and soon their merger begot a new acquisition: romance! It took 10 years, but this summer, the contract becomes final. At their July wedding, we’re sure they’ll switch out coffee for champagne.
