Sleepy Hollow Proposal – Lighthouse Love

September 3, 2019

We love surprise proposals when we can participate, not just observe. Demetri’s had us pouring champagne into his parents’ own wedding goblets and serenading a stunned Kasey with The Beatle’s “Here, There and Everywhere,” complete with guitar accompaniment. Talk about romantic: it doesn’t get much better than the Hudson riverscape at Sleepy Hollow’s Kingsland Point Park, with the couple’s sentimental favorite lighthouse as backdrop. It’s a setting they know well, going back to high school days, when Kasey’s crush on her fiancé began. Hey, we said it’s romantic!

Blue Hill at Stone Barns Proposal / Fooling Francesca

October 1, 2018

How dreamy is a marriage proposal on an Italian seaside hill? That’s what Francesca expected on her upcoming trip to the Cinque Terre, but her fiancé had another hill in mind: Pocantico’s Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Watching her great surprise, we’re sure the day was just as dreamy. There was romance: an intimate dinner in the private dining room. There was weather: rain had just cleared. And there was that gorgeous new ring! The couple, who met dancing in a Bowery bar, will finally waltz off to Italy, where the ring will sparkle on that seaside hill.

Brooklyn Waterfront Session

September 5, 2018

Leia and Jim – From office to official –  Until our own kids get married, we’re most sentimental when our friends’ kids do. Three years ago, it was our high school chum’s daughter, and in October, it’ll be his son, Jim. He met Leia at work four years ago, but it took a job change and a few more years for romance to blossom. And blossom it did, as the family photos here on the Brooklyn waterfront show: their adorable son will be the ring bearer at the wedding under vintage chandeliers at Manhattan’s 19thCentury venue, Harding’s. We’ll be bearing cameras and tissues for our tears!

Blue Hill at Stone Barns Proposal

June 30, 2018

Melissa and Matt

A man walked into a bar…

Westchester’s refined Blue Hill at Stone Barns is about as far as you can get from a bar at the Jersey Shore; but Melissa and Matt made the journey! That bar is where they met six years ago, and Stone Barns is where he proposed in May. We conjured a plan with Matt for the staff to magically appear from the root cellar with a champagne toast, and the magic continued with dinner at Blue Hill.  Good thing he waited outside for her to walk out of that Jersey bar–soon he’ll wait as she walks down the aisle.

October Nuptials – Laura and Dan

September 28, 2016

In a just a few short weeks this beautiful couple will tie the knot at a ceremony at the Tarrytown House.  We were so pleased to receive this note of praise from the bride’s mom, Joanne.

“Hi Margaret, I wanted to share with you how pleased we are that Laura chose you to do the photography for her wedding.  Her engagement photos are amazing. You took such time and care to get the right poses at a venue she loves.  I’ve watched you in action at so many events and you always take such care to make sure everyone in the photo looks just right.  You take the time to get to know the people you are photographing and always seem to capture the spirit and sparkle of the moment. You are responsive to every inquiry and the photos are delivered in a timely manner. We look forward to the wedding photos in October!”

We look forward to photographing their wedding day too!

Miami Heat

July 1, 2016

Judit and Jeff:

The story reads like a rom-com script. A hot Miami bar, an exotic blonde reporter, vacationing buddies, an unwanted advance, an apology, long-distance separation, triumphant love. Judit, Argentina-born, was that reporter; Jeff, a visiting New Yorker apologizing to her for his alcohol-fueled friend who had touched her leg. It seems the apology was accepted, a year and a half later that included 7 months of long-distance dating, we shot their pre-wedding photos. The Hollywood ending happens this summer at Pocantico’s Chagall-windowed Union Church and Tarrytown’s DoubleTree Hotel.

Save the Date Photo Session, Tarrytown, NY

February 12, 2016

Laura & Dan – Infinite sand, one stone

We’d all agree that proposals should be romantic, surprising, even teary. But fearful?   Not an emotion we’d strive for. But Laura felt them all when Dan held out a box on a San Diego beach four years after meeting.  The idea of marriage wasn’t frightening, the idea of dropping the ring in the sand was. Laura hit the Pause button until they were safely on solid ground. Fast forward to our save-the-date shoot at Rockefeller State Park, where they strolled the wooded trails, no sand in sight, the ring shining snugly on her finger.

Tarrytown, NY Pre-Wedding Photoshoot for Ivona & Tony

July 28, 2015

Clear skies ahead – Ivona & Tony – Pre-Wedding Photography

A rainy forecast means luck for droughts, deserts, and one specific couple. Three of Ivona and Tony’s milestones were drenched: their first Manhattan roof-top garden meeting, their one-year anniversary at that same romantic spot, and this summer’s pre-wedding photo shoot in Tarrytown. Ivona’s eyes may have gotten wet when Tony proposed at that anniversary dinner, but not Tony’s knee – it was pouring! The kneeling  tradition was postponed ’til another day, though next to a flat tire instead of a rooftop garden! Whatever works, we say. And by the way, the only waterworks on their July 4th Beacon wedding will be tears of joy.

Tarrytown, NY – Keith & Stephanie’s Engagement Photo Session

May 30, 2015

Stephanie & Keith – Beneath a tree, love blooms

The Rockefeller Center tree is a tradition, and it became Stephanie and Keith’s too. They saw it the first year they dated, and the next two after that. That third time, while the lights twinkled on the tree, a diamond twinkled from Keith’s pocket. Now that’s what we call a happy holiday! Stephanie shouldn’t have been too shocked–  threes had been lucky for them before. They’d been dating almost three years, and their first dates were three in a row. It all started with dinner, when they talked until the restaurant closed for the night. We’re romantics, so we like to think it was about 3 a.m.!

Chic Couple’s Photo Session in Chelsea, NY

Cassidy & Jared – Crushes to Candles – Engagement Photographs

It started with Cassidy’s college crush, and ended with Jared’s candlelight proposal. In between were 12 years, seven states, and one pact that said if they weren’t married by the time she turned 30, they’d wed. Well, she’s 30, and thanks to his Facebook contact, they’ll be wedded in June at Larchmont Temple. They should pop some seltzer along with champagne, since Jared’s request that she run out for seltzer was his ruse for setting their apartment aglow with candles and a diamond ring. Now that’s the kind of errand we’d all like more of!
